Company Car & Buy-out

Everything about buying out the car you have been driving — tax-compliant, guaranteed and hassle-free.

Yes, you can take home the car you have been driving as a company car when the leasing agreement expires — but you do not buy it from your employer. Xcocar purchases the car from the leasing company or your employer and then resells it to you, which makes the transaction tax-compliant with no tax consequences for you as an employee. The entire process is 100% digital and you do not need to visit a physical dealership.

If you buy the company car directly from your employer below market value, the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) may consider the price difference a taxable salary benefit, triggering income tax for you and employer contributions for the company. Xcocar eliminates this tax risk structurally — you never buy from your employer but from Xcocar, which acts as an independent car dealer in Sweden. This means no tax consequences for either you or your employer.

Xcocar purchases the service vehicle from the leasing company or the employer and then sells it to you as a private individual — one simple step that makes the entire transaction tax-compliant. You receive a price for the car you have been driving, sign digitally and can take the car home without paperwork hassle or physical meetings. Warranty via AutoConcept is always included in the purchase, with at least one year of coverage.

No, getting a price indication on the car you have been driving is completely free and you are under no obligation. The process starts digitally at Xcocar and you quickly receive an estimate showing what it costs to take the car home.

Yes, Xcocar offers financing via enklare.se, which collects applications from over 40 banks and lenders to find the best interest rate for you. You apply digitally directly within the purchase process and do not need to arrange financing on your own. The entire flow from price indication to signing and financing happens in one place.

Yes, warranty via AutoConcept is always included when you take home the car you have been driving via Xcocar — at least one year at no extra cost. This makes the purchase safer than many alternative channels where warranty is optional or chargeable. The warranty applies from the moment you take the car home and you do not need to negotiate it separately.

What is unique about Xcocar is that the entire tax structure is built into the business model. You never buy from your employer — you buy from Xcocar as an independent car dealer, which means benefit-taxation rules do not apply to the transaction. The whole process happens online, from price indication to signing.

For Employers & HR

How HR and fleet managers can handle buy-outs smoothly — without tax risk.

When the leasing agreement expires, the car is returned to the leasing company, which then sells it on. If the employee wants to take home the car they have been driving, it must happen via an independent party — not directly from the employer — to avoid tax consequences. Xcocar buys the car directly from the leasing company and then sells it to the employee in a tax-compliant way.

Yes, but it must be done correctly. If the employer sells the car directly to the employee, the Swedish Tax Agency may consider the price difference a benefit, triggering tax for both employee and employer. Xcocar structures the purchase so the employee takes home the car they have been driving from an independent party, eliminating the tax risk structurally.

The company or leasing company sells the car to Xcocar at market price, and Xcocar then sells the car to the employee who has been driving it. The entire process is 100% digital, from price indication to signing, and the employer does not need to handle administrative matters around sale or risk assessment. HR and fleet managers therefore do not need to take a position on pricing or tax consequences.

If a company sells a company car to an employee below market value, the Swedish Tax Agency may treat the transaction as a taxable salary benefit. This means potential income tax for the employee and employer contributions for the company. Xcocar's model eliminates this risk because the driver buys the car from Xcocar — never from their employer.

When the purchase happens via the employer, a conflict of interest arises that the Swedish Tax Agency may question, particularly regarding market pricing. Via a registered car dealer like Xcocar, the transaction occurs on market terms between buyer and seller without any link to the employment relationship, which makes the transaction tax-compliant.

HR can use Xcocar as a standardised process for the entire fleet — whether it concerns individual cars or an entire leasing agreement that is expiring. Xcocar handles contact with the leasing company, pricing and digital signing, freeing up time for HR and eliminating the need for internal legal review. The process is fully digital and scalable for companies with large vehicle fleets.
